Description
This web catalogue is a supplement web tool to the manuscript from Hu et al. 2018. It comprises of interactive web illustrations to explore the comprehensive map of pre-cancer medical histories generated from a data set describing 6.9 M patients from the Danish National Patient Registry covering a 20-year period. All disease co-occurrences are coded in ICD-10 and are directionally significat (D1 → C1), which means that diagnosis D1 occurs significantly (Bonferroni-corrected p-value < 0.05) before the cancer diagnosis C1. A total of 648 level-3 ICD diagnoses were identified that co-occur before a cancer diagnosis with a relative risk > 1. They can be explored in the three interactive figures below.

Retrospective cohort analysis based on the ICD-10 terminology
The diseases presented are hospital diagnoses and codes using the International Classification of Diseases (ICD) and Related Health Problems (10th edition). The terminology is structured hierarchically, where ICD-10 codes can be rounded to higher-level diagnosis code, block or chapter. Here we use the ICD-10 level-3 to code diseases.
